Environment Commissioner Jamani Begins Operation Clean-Up Delta
****Talks Tough, Warns Against Illegal Dumping Of Refuge
By Nelson Agbajor
Delta state Commissioner for Environment Mr. Jamani Tommy Ejiro has appealed to residents of the state to stop the indiscriminate dumping of refuge on prohibited areas.
The Commissioner made the appeal today
in Warri while inspecting the blocked canal at the Warri garage in Warri South Local Government Area of the state and other parts of the state during the monthly environmental sanitation exercise.
While frowning at the attitudes of residents in the area for dumping waste on spots that are capable of blocking canals, Mr. Jamani noted that the result of blocking canals,( drainage system) is that, when this happens, waste materials build up pipes will in turn cause blockage in the drain water and waste to flow back.
The Environment Commissioner who recently declared”Operation Clean Up Delta’, reiterated that in keeping to its mandate for a clean environment in all parts of the state, again called on all Deltans to keep their environment clean and support government effort for healthy environment.

Similarly, the Honorable Commissioner was also in Sapele local government area to monitor the sanitation exercise where he expressed total displeasure over the attitude of the management of Zenith Bank for not keeping their environment clean.
Mr. Jamani Tommy Ejiro who immediately ordered that an abatement notice be given to Zenith bank, urged the financial institution to do the needful by keeping their environment clean at all times.
“Today, I personally monitored the monthly environmental exercise and so far, the turnout is low and I want to urge the good people of Delta State to cultivate the habit of always keeping their environment clean in order to promote good healthy living”
” we must understand that blocking of canals, drainages are very bad and on our part as an institution, we will continue to sensitize our people on the right thing as far as keeping our environment clean is concern”
